Exposure

The term exposure in photography refers to the act of exposing the camera’ film or image sensor (as in the case of digital cameras) to light, light eminating from the subject you want to photograph and which is channeled through the lens and focused thereby. As such, exposure settings relate to the reducing and increasing the length of time that the image sensor is exposed to the light, the narrowing and widening of the opening of the lens which permits light to pass through it, and the setting of the sensitivity of the image sensor (or chosing of film of a particular sensitivity)

Composition and Design

Composing

Composition of a photography relates to where one points the camera: which direction, which angle, how close or zoomed in or out (in the case of zoom lenses). It can be where you position objects or persons in the frame of the camera’s view finder, which ultimately leads to the frame of the resulting photograph. Positioning can be set by the photograph moving things in their view—removing trash from the scene, having a model turn a certain way—or it can be determined by the photographer moving herself and her camera to a different spot for a better organization and angle of the scene.

If you don’t we an article or placeholder for a topic that you feel should be covered, please let us know so that we can add it.
